Quote from netmined on July 5, 2020, 22:44Hello,
We have purchased WOOCS for two sites PRIVATE DATA!.
On one site we use the Woo price filter and on the other we have set up the YITH price filter. But unfortunately WOOCS is now not working on either of the price filters.
With the Woo price filter, when we change the currency, the filter currency doesn't change, it just stays stuck. We have checked our settings in WOOCS Advanced tab - multiple is allowed, individual fixed price rules is switched off, individual fixed amount for coupon is switched on and all the others are switched off or 'No'.
On the YITH price filter, the filter currency just defaults to the store currency and does not even change from this.
Could you please advise how we can get the filters fixed? If WOOCS only supports the Woo price filter, then we are happy to change the second store to this but the main thing is to get the filter to work.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Quote from netmined on July 7, 2020, 14:30Hi,
Many thanks for checking but I'm not sure I understand you. You checked it against the Woo filter which is loaded on the site now and it worked on that?
Or you checked it with your own filter plugin and it worked on that?
Btw, I noticed in the video you sent that at the start, the filter was also defaulting to GBP. It shouldn't be doing that. If you are not in the UK or EU, it should automatically default to USD. So something is wrong.
The filter defaults for us here in the EU also to GBP (same as in the video) instead of EUR, but then it does not change at all when a new currency is selected.

So something is wrong. - I added to link - ?currency=USD OR ?currency=GBP to change the currency.
You checked it against the Woo filter which is loaded on the site now and it worked on that? - Yes! I didn’t change anything and didn’t upload to your site

Quote from netmined on July 9, 2020, 14:44Hi Pavlo,
Thank you for your reply but could you please make your replies a little bit clearer and give us more details?
We are wasting a lot of time trying to figure out from your replies if you just tested something or changed it etc etc... This is the third round of replies just to work out that you added a string to the URL. We are assuming that you only just tested it since the string is not appearing now on our end at the moment and it is not showing in the video you posted above.
In any case, unfortunately adding the string does not work as a possible solution and causes big problems. Because of this extra string added to each URL, it causes major issues with SEO, google bots, existing or new links and 404s etc etc from external links. We had WOOCS set up this way initially for 3 years on the site and it caused big problems for us which we discovered only later. Adding these URL currency strings is a really bad idea for ecommerce stores.
And we cannot do the 'enabling caching support' option in Woocommerce since that's pretty much the same thing because of the string it adds to the url. It is frankly a dumb workaround from Woocommerce to try to solve something which can be solved much better. Ecommerce stores should not have it enabled because of the mess it causes to urls, SEO etc. In any case, the option does not need to be enabled for the currency switcher to work properly so it shouldn't need to be enabled for the filter either. Instead of this option, we have the Woocommerce MaxMind integration set up to provide correct geolocating as per the following and it works:
https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/maxmind-geolocation-integration/#
So now it's just back to the Woo filter which does not switch currencies at the moment.
Please let us know why the filter currency switch is not working at the moment and how to fix it without adding strings to URLs.
Many thanks in advance for your reply.

I will repeat the test - The price filter is converted correctly and it doesn’t matter how I switch the currency. Please watch my new video - the video in private data.
Maybe I didn’t understand you. You contacted support because the amounts in the filter by price are not converted - https://c2n.me/48l0IH1.jpg Right? If so, I cannot repeat this error. As you can see on the video everything works correctly. You can make a video with error on your side, please
Because of this extra string added to each URL, it causes major issues with SEO, google bots - it doesn’t work like that))) The robot cannot switch currencies, which means it will not receive a GET request in the link( unless of course you pasted these links into content or sitemap )

Thank you for your message.
So I really don't know why it works for you but not us but we have now tested it in three locations and two countries and the filter didn't change currency for anyone. Two of the laptops had never had the site loaded so there were no issues with caching. Please see our video of the error in the private data.
I had also flushed the cache beforehand just in case. Not sure if maybe the reason it worked for you is that the Woocommerce "home" currency is set to USD and so you were changing from this in your video. Whereas we tested it in two countries in Europe where the opening currency is set to default to Euro. But don't know why this should make a difference. We have Cloudflare set up on this site and we also paused that, flushed the cache and tested it again just in case. No difference.
Just to make it even stranger, the second website which we have WOOCS set up on also has the same theme, pretty much the same plugins, set up etc. and the filter switches currencies on that one no problems. The login and other details for that site are also in private data.
Perhaps trying the filter through a proxy server in an EU country might replicate the problem for you?

Please read this - https://currency-switcher.com/using-geolocation-causes-problems-doesnt-seem-to-work-for-me/
This issue seems to be cache related. Try to do test without the cache.

Thank you for your reply.
We already looked at that page and worked through the points on it. The thing is, we don't have an issue with the switcher not working or geolocating correctly in the store or checkout, we only have an issue with it not working in the Woo price filter. As we mentioned in the last reply, we have also tried the test with the Cloudflare caching paused to see if that made a difference and it didn't. And we cleared all of the site and Cloudflare caches before doing the test - also no change. So none of the suggestions on that page help us. Plus it does not make sense to us - if the caching is not interfering with the geolocation on the product prices and checkout etc. then caching is working ok. We also have the MaxMind geoip set up so it isn't that. The Woo filter does geolocate correctly - it shows the correct "welcome" currency, it just does not want to switch after that.
So it seems that there must be some issue between WOOCS and the Woo price filter as to why that one is not switching correctly like the rest of the store.

I can assume that the problem is related to the settings of this site. And since it works for me and not for you. Therefore, I believe that this is the cache (this is very logical)
For this reason, I ask you to do a test without the cache (do not clear but turn off everything related to caching)

Quote from netmined on July 14, 2020, 22:16Hi Pavlo,
I'll repeat it again. We did the test in two different countries, three different locations with and without the cache switched on and the filter didn't switch for any of those people who tested it - two of them had never had the site loaded before. So not a caching issue.
Also it worked for you when the caching was switched on so again, doesn't point to a caching issue. The currency switcher itself also works fine with the cache and everything else switched on, so also does not point to a caching issue.
And it worked for you when testing it from a starting point of USD which is the site's home currency rather than EUR (which was our starting point and the currency which the store defaults to for our location) so we think the problem might be there somewhere - maybe for some reason it is not recognising the non home currencies as a legitimate switch?
So could you please have a look and advise why the switcher is not working in just the filter when everywhere else it is fine.
Many thanks in advance.

Quote from netmined on July 15, 2020, 16:25Hi Pavlo,
If you are located in the Ukraine, the "welcome" currency which you would have got when the site first loaded is USD, not EUR (for Ukraine, it is set to default to USD). I think that the test video you made for us is also with a starting USD then switching to GBP.
We do not have any server side caching on this site, only Cloudflare and we have now temporarily stopped it for you. The only other caching is the plugin Swift Performance Lite. Feel free to pause/disable this if you wish but please let us know if you want to change or add any rules or options for it. It is relatively complex in terms of set up so just so we can keep up with any changes that are made as part of this.
This is a live site so please do not disable the theme and please let us know which plugins you want to disable BEFORE you do that so that we can advise you if they can be disabled or not (they may be needed for the theme to work properly).
Many thanks in advance.
