I am using the MDTF plugin on a client website to search posts and display the results. The posts are created with the Advanced Custom Fields plugin. MDTF is added to the page by a widget and as MDTF Taxonomies only to search by categories and tags.

The search results from MDTF show the post title, post date, post category and post tag. However, I would also like to show the post excerpt with the results. Is there a way of returning the post excerpt in the search results with the MDTF plugin?

I would like to keep things as simple as possible for my client as they will be the ones creating the posts. Therefore, I would prefer not to create additional fields the client will need to fill for each post they create or create something similar to your templates, such as my_cars templates. I just need to keep things simple for my client.

I am using a child theme. Can the search results from MDTF be customised through the child theme?

Kind regards

Michael Booth

Hello

, I would also like to show the post excerpt with the results.  - If you are not using my plugin templates, then write in support of the current theme

Can the search results from MDTF be customised through the child theme? - unfortunately I did not understand your question

Thank you for your reply.

The theme I'm using is Divi.

In regards to using a child theme, I meant to say would adding a search.php file to the child theme and adding a few lines of code to display the post excerpt from the search results work with MDTF.

Kind regards

Michael

Hello Michael

It doesn't depend on my plugin anyway

Yes, you need to change the template of the current theme. You use this template in these settings - https://c2n.me/4bWdHTX.png
