WordPress & WooCommerce search modifications not working with latest plugin version

Hi there,
I'm working on a shop for a client and i've modified the search behavior using hooks (posts_search and woocommerce_product_query) which work fine. The problem is that when i activate the latest version of your plugin, it seems like the modified search behavior gets overwritten/doesn't work anymore. For example, i've modified the search to look in the product attributes but when i activate your plugin it searches only by text. SKU search also stops working. By the way, this issue doesn't happen when i activate an older version that I have of your plugin (3.3.3). With it, the search works normally. The problem with that older version however is that i get another issue where the result count selector with AJAX turned on is bugged https://wordpress.org/support/topic/result-count-css-selector-option-not-working/.
Could you please help me find a solution? I can provide a link but this is on a client website, so i'd need to know what's being done/changed. Hopefully you can help, thank you!
