set sale price error

when i try to set a sale price for all products in a category"sale price = regular price -%" i get a popup saying error - nothing more
with the same filters i have tried changing regular prices and it works
i think it may be a problem with php 8?
the error i got on my server logs starts as :

fyi i set php back to php7.4 and the operation worked
