Open and close subcategories images not showing

I added images to open and close the subcategories because the + and - that originally show can't be seen unless you hover over them because they are a similar color to the background. The problem is that the images that I uploaded do not replace the + and - that are already there. Please help. Thank you!

Thank you, that turned the + and - so it solves the problem. I'm still wondering why the images didn't work though?
