Mostrar productos de la categoría actual y otra categoría

Hola, estoy intentando utilizar el filtro para mostrar en una web, los productos que pertenecen a una categoría actual (debe ser variable, según donde esté navegando el usuario) y además, que pertenezca a la categoría X.
Un ejemplo sería, el usuario está navegando por la categoría"baloncesto" y se le muestran todos los productos de esta categoría. El filtro que quiero es que pueda filtrar estos productos si pertenecen a otras categorías que no son subcategorías de esta, por ejemplo,"zapatillas","camisetas"...
En la web tenemos varias categorías:
Categoría padre Deportes: Voleibol, Baloncesto, Futbol....
Categoría padre Equipamiento: zapatillas, camisetas, pantalones...

I'm not sure I understood you correctly. inside the category, the plugin can only filter on child categories
Gracias por tu respuesta Pablo, en ese caso no me sirve el plugin, necesito que filtre en categorías sean o no hijas de la categoría padre.
If you filter inside the category by any other category (except for the child) - this will always give zero products
