Quote from Brad on June 24, 2021, 18:45Thanks for the quick reply!
I have been through those resources. The video doesn't show using the hierarchy drop-down. And I'm missing some details from Custom Post Type UI.
I think the example is essentially what I need to do. So, a quick video showing the setup of the taxonomy and how it can be used in the hierarchy search would help a lot.
I have one other question: the use case in the demo seems to be adding 1 selection to the product. In the case of auto parts, the same product may be used for multiple (indeed many) vehicle year/model combinations. How can I attach the taxonomy to an arbitrary number of products?
I did create an admin account for you and posted the info into the private message. You should also receive an email to admin@pluginus.net.
Thanks for your help!

Quote from Brad on July 4, 2021, 06:18The video was exactly what I needed! Thanks!
So, now I'm seeing how the taxonomy works and I'm concerned. There are thousands of year, make, model combinations and it looks like they are all going to end up on the product page:
https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_/photo/AF1QipM6-X35-qzKvql9xfc9kAIiUeXEYO-5htn2eshE
I'll be adding the taxonomy programmatically, so I'm not too concerned about it from a UI perspective. But I do have performance concerns.
Do I need to take a different approach?

Unfortunately, hierarchical dropdown only works this way( It was specially designed for this ).
Perhaps there is another option. Try to use this extension - https://products-filter.com/extencion/conditionals/ OR https://products-filter.com/extencion/woocommerce-step-by-step-filter/ but it won't work with hierarchy, you should create three separate taxonomies

Quote from Brad on July 8, 2021, 03:35I'm giving this a go and using the taxonomy_chain_menu, but the short-codes aren't rendering. I tried each code by itself and exactly as below, as shown in the documentation; is it supposed to be like that? In any case, nothing is rendering. Any clues?
[taxonomy_chain_menu post_type=’product’ taxonomy=’vehicle_taxonomy’ target=’_blank’ label_taxonomy=’call_filter_chain1′ label_post=’call_filter_chain1-post’ button_title=’Take it!’ do_filter=’woof’ watch_view=’none’ label_before=’Select your vehicle‘ ′]AND[woof_products]
Also, I'm sending a new login and adding a link to the private info.
I appreciate your outstanding support!

Quote from Brad on July 8, 2021, 11:50So, it's magically starting rendering shortcodes now. But the taxonomy chain menu is giving me: Taxonomy Chain Menu: select right pair of post type and its taxonomy!
This is what I have in my post:
[taxonomy_chain_menu post_type=’product’ taxonomy=’vehicle_taxonomy’ parent_id=0 button_title=’Take it!’ do_filter=’woof’ watch_view=’none’ ]
[woof_products]

Quote from Brad on July 9, 2021, 19:01Yep, that was the rendering issue.
Now I have what I hope are my last problems. I've created the taxonomy programmatically, updating the wp_term, wp_terms_taxonomy and wp_term_relationship tables. All looks well on the taxonomy page (products|make) and on any product page. However, only the makes I enter by hand within the WordPress admin are showing up in the taxonomy chain menu.
Also, even for the makes that are in the menu, only the top level of the hierarchy is displayed. After a make selection is made, the next level in the hierarchy starts to be shown (the new drop-down box can be seen under the spinner), but then all the products are shown without an option to select the next level. Now there are only 1 or 2 products in my test makes, so is that why the rest of the chain is being skipped, or am I doing something wrong?

Quote from Brad on July 12, 2021, 00:19I figured out why the taxonomy values I loaded programmatically weren't showing up. The count field in wp_term_taxonomy needs to be set.
But I still haven't figured out why the 2nd level of the taxonomy isn't being fully shown.
Also, does my license for the hierarchy plugin cover the menu plugin?

Quote from Brad on July 15, 2021, 14:38Any ideas? Is there something wrong with my shortcode:
[taxonomy_chain_menu post_type='product' taxonomy='vehicle_taxonomy' button_title='Take it!' do_filter='woof' watch_view='none']
Or is the taxonomy too big and the menu is timing out?
