Quote from Matthias on January 25, 2024, 15:13I am having problems with the hierarchy drop-down filter on website goebeestig.be
Hierarchy filter appears and is correctly applied to the product category pages up to a certain level.
How to reproduce
1. Go to page https://goebeestig.be/webshop/
On this page the filter works fine2. click in the top menu on webshop > dog
On this category page the filter works fine3. click in the top menu on webshop > dog > non-food at the top of the menu
On this category page the filter works fine4. click in the top menu on webshop > dog > non-food > toys
Here the filter does not appear correctly and is not applied. You can also test this at other hierarchies and each time the lowest level has this problem.
It seems that the filter is only active at the upper hierarchy levels. And every time at the lower level it does not work.Do you know how I can solve this? Is this a setting?
Thanks!

On the category(taxonomy) page, the filter shows only child categories(taxonomies)
This is a very logical behavior. On the category page, you can show ONLY products that belong to the category OR child category. It makes sense to show only child categories( of the current category ), because clicking on any other category will always give zero products )

When I click on Dog (hond) > Food > Snacks, the currently selected categories are not displayed. The filter just disappears.
And I also don't see the products with child category "Snacks", but all the products in the store. It seems logical to me that at the bottom level of the category I can also select the products correctly?
It does work on the upper and middle category. When I go to Dog (hond) > Food, I can select the Snacks child category in the filter manually. This is what needs to happen when I select the category in the menu on top of the website in my opinion.
Thanks!

on a category page you can only select from a child category, that's the whole point of category pages
an example : an page - /product-categorie/hond/food-hond/voeding/ can Krabbalen be displayed on this page? Of course not, to display products from other categories you need to redirect to another page - /product-categorie/kat/krabpalen/ And this is the functionality of the menu - redirection to other pages. My plugin is a filter, product search. And the filter shows only those categories that can be found in the context of the current category

Quote from Matthias on January 30, 2024, 21:34I get the point, but on the page - /product-categorie/hond/food-hond/voeding/ the products with category 'voeding' are showing up correctly.
But if you go to a category lower in the hierarchie ('Droogvoeding') - /product-categorie/hond/food-hond/voeding/droogvoeding-voeding-hond/
The page is not filtered on the right products. You get all the products on the webshop. If I select 'Droogvoeding' in the top menu, you go to the page - /product-categorie/hond/food-hond/voeding/droogvoeding-voeding-hond/, but the filter is not visible (I agree that this is not really necessary either, given that this is the last category and you don't want other things to appear/be selected there.) but the right products should be filtered. And this is not the case.
For example, you can see the toys on this page.
I don't think this is logical behavior, because you select the subcategory 'Droogvoeding'.

Ok! I see that you are using the [woof_products] shortcode to display products. With this setup, this shortcode should always display all products
Read this please - https://products-filter.com/shortcode/woof_products
Reconfigure shortcodes for each category or use the standard archive template

Quote from Matthias on February 1, 2024, 15:19Sorry, I still don't quite understand why it works with the [woof_products] shortcode for the first layers of taxonomies/categories, but not for the bottom category.
Configuring a shortcode for each category does not seem to me to be the most scalable solution.
What do you mean with use the standard archive template?

I still don't quite understand why it works with the [woof_products] shortcode for the first layers of taxonomies/categories, - Yes, this is strange behavior, and may be due to the fact that the current theme intercepts requests in the data database. The normal behavior for this shortcode is to always display all products. That's the point - individual product display settings
What do you mean with use the standard archive template? - Woocommerce has a standard product display template: shop and taxonomy page (archive template). Typically, the theme overrides these templates and adds styles to be compatible with the design. And I mean these templates instead of custom template constructors

Quote from Matthias on February 2, 2024, 14:16Oke thanks!
We use Avada Theme and it is indeed going to override the default templates.
So for you the best solution seems to be to create a separate shortcode per category?

No. The best solution is to use a standard template if this is not possible: Use the template that the current theme offers, I think this product template should be adapted to the current category.
If the filter does not work with the current theme template - https://products-filter.com/make-page-builders-and-custom-template-filterable
It is advisable to use the shortcode when you need a custom page
