Filtering on category page loses the WooCommerce category header

(I'm sorry I can't share the staging/dev site of the client just now)
If I start with a normal category page URL - e.g. https://dev.site/florals/ then the header is really nice - 
If I apply a filter, then AJAX reload of various components happens, and I get https://dev.site/florals/?swoof=1&pa_size=cushion-kit&really_curr_tax=56-product_cat. Because this is AJAX reloaded, the nice header remains in place -
However, if I keep the exact same updated URL and RELOAD the page (or go to a product page and come back to this same URL), the header is NOT RIGHT.
The header title has been lost, the header image has been lost and the header text has been lost.
I found, with a little more investigation I can load https://dev.site/florals/ correctly but as soon as I add ?swoof=1 then the page header breaks.
Anyone had this issue? Is there a fix for this?
