Filter putting all products with global attribute in results

Hello, I've encountered a problem with most WC filters and wondered if you had a workaround for it. If my product has multiple attributes, eg: colour, size and I create a filter with these attributes and the user checks 'red' and 'small'; the results show all products that have a 'small' global attribute and a 'red' global attribute even if a 'small red' option isn't a possible variation combination for this product.
I can show you an example of this on my site but don't want to post the link on a public forum. My main question is: is there a way for the user to select more than one attribute filter that must be partnered together to only show results where that combination is a purchasable product.

Unfortunately no. Because the search goes for parent products. ( shop/archive template - shows only parent products )
