Feature Request: “Reverse WOOF Hierarchical Search” Extension

Hello, I’d like to request a new feature extension for the WOOF plugin:

EXAMPLE

AutoZone.com allows a user on a product page to select his/her vehicle through hierarchical drop downs, and the product page will state if the product is compatible with the vehicle. An example of the desired feature would be at the following URL in the section titled “Tell Us What You Drive and We'll Tell You if it Fits”:

https://www.autozone.com/batteries-starting-and-charging/alternator/duralast-gold-new-alternator-dlg1923-16-4/973439_223532_0

SCENARIO

A potential customer landed on a product page for a specific vehicle. The customer wants to see if the product is compatible with his/her vehicle. The customer selects his/her vehicle from a series of WOOF hierarchical drop downs and then selects the “Submit” button. The WOOF plugin then states a custom CSS message if the product is compatible with the customer’s vehicle or a different message if the product is not compatible.

A “Reset” button would allow the customer to select a different vehicle from the WOOF hierarchical drop down.

A button to “Save Search” will apply the “Reverse WOOF Hierarchical Search” selection to the “Saver of Search query” if that extension is enabled.

If the customer navigates to a different product page, that new page should already state if the product is compatible or is not compatible with the previously selected “Reverse WOOF hierarchical search.”

IMPLEMENTATION

The Reverse WOOF feature can be placed on a page using a [shortcode]. If the “Saver of Search query” extension is enabled, a setting in the short code should enable having the “Reverse WOOF Hierarchical Search” save the hierarchical selection.

NOTE: the potential customer is not logged in to the website, and will not create an account to save search results.

Feel free to contact me should you require any clarification on my request!

Regards,

C

Hello

I will pass this on to the developers. This is a  good idea but  functionality is very specific.

Unfortunately, it does not depend on me.

Thank you for your consideration.

The “Reverse WOOF Hierarchical Filter” works as a qualifier which provides one outcome based on a hierarchical selection, or a different outcome based on all other other selections.

INDUSTRIES

The “Reverse WOOF Hierarchical Filter” could be applicable to the following industries:

  • CLOTHING: a user states his/her dimensions and the site states if the clothing will fit.
  • AUTOMOTIVE: a user states her/his vehicle through hierarchical drop downs and the site states if the product is compatible with the vehicle.
  • FOOD: User states if she/he is lactose intolerant or has other dietary requirements and the product page can reveal if the product can be consumed by the individual.
  • FINANCIAL: the “Reverse WOOF Hierarchical Filter” can be used as a qualifier to state if a financial product is compatible with the individual based on age, marital status, etc.
  • HOSPITALITY: a hotel page can reveal if a service accommodates a disability such as wheelchair access.

Essentially, the “Reverse WOOF Hierarchical Filter” could apply to any industry where the user needs to input a variable to determine if he/she qualifies.
