I modified the template of the category pages in order to have a widget on the left side and the woof-product shortcode (taxonomies=product_cat:**) on the right side.
It seems that the widget (left part) does not take into account the category or only after the first search.

If on a custom page you need filtering in the context of a specific taxonomy, you need to add an attribute to the filter and to the product display
Unfortunately the plugin does not have such a feature.
