Category dropdown always visible?

When a user selects a category and the archive page loads the results the category filter dropdown disappears. Can this be set to always be visible so there's a convenient and easy way for users to select other categories to view?

On the category(taxonomy) page, the filter shows only child categories(taxonomies)
This is a very logical behavior. On the category page, you can show ONLY products that belong to the category OR child category. It makes sense to show only child categories( of the current category ), because clicking on any other category will always give zero products
Hi Pablo, whilst I agree with your logic, it is bad UX for a user to have to press back on a browser or 'reset' to re-apply a category filter or at worse have to make more than a couple of clicks to get where they want. If a user has searched for one particular category and wants to view a completely different category, surely common sense dictates there is a single click way to carry out their task. Other plugins provide this simple behaviour of allowing a category to be chosen even when within a category itself.
In this case use menu by category instead of filter
Filter - makes a search
Menu - does a redirect to another page
It is not possible to show another category inside a category, you need to redirect to another page with a category. so you need a menu
Our main archive page is just a collection of individual products so surely if the category filter is applied it should remain in place to allow users to re-filter other categories?

Ok! if the user is not on the categories page (shop page or custom page), then he can filter by any categories, change categories, etc.
If the categories disappear on the main page, give me a link to the issue

That page contains all individual products which are filterable by category, tag (Month) and taxonomy (Venue). We ideally want a customer to be able to select a category and the results filtered but then allow the user to change category in the sidebar so it can re filter etc if that makes sense?

Hi Pablo, I have tried activating Swoof influence and that hasn't made any difference (all caches cleared prior to testing) and If I active the SEO URL then the category filter disappears as does the tag (by month) filter. So have deactivated both. Any other suggestions?

It looks like a conflict with a third party plugin. Are you using a custom taxonomy plugin? OR https://wordpress.org/plugins/perfect-woocommerce-brands/
Hi, tried activating and deactivating Swoof influence, neither made a difference. We're currently using Grid Builder WP but this needs to remain on.

Looks like it's a conflict with ACF. You created a custom taxonomy with this plugin which caused a conflict.
So you can't use the plugin effectively if im using a taxonomy created by the widely used ACF plugin? What workarounds are there?
The problem is that this third party plugin sees the taxonomy in the request and redirects to the archive template
