On the category(taxonomy) page, the filter shows only child categories(taxonomies)
This is a very logical behavior. On the category page, you can show ONLY products that belong to the category OR child category. It makes sense to show only child categories( of the current category ), because clicking on any other category will always give zero products

Quote from mattopsm on August 21, 2023, 11:05Hi Pablo, whilst I agree with your logic, it is bad UX for a user to have to press back on a browser or 'reset' to re-apply a category filter or at worse have to make more than a couple of clicks to get where they want. If a user has searched for one particular category and wants to view a completely different category, surely common sense dictates there is a single click way to carry out their task. Other plugins provide this simple behaviour of allowing a category to be chosen even when within a category itself.

Quote from Pablo Borysenco on August 21, 2023, 12:36In this case use menu by category instead of filter
Filter - makes a search
Menu - does a redirect to another page
It is not possible to show another category inside a category, you need to redirect to another page with a category. so you need a menu

Ok! if the user is not on the categories page (shop page or custom page), then he can filter by any categories, change categories, etc.
If the categories disappear on the main page, give me a link to the issue

Quote from mattopsm on August 22, 2023, 12:25Hi Pablo, so the page in question is: https://www.lct.co.uk/open-programmes/
That page contains all individual products which are filterable by category, tag (Month) and taxonomy (Venue). We ideally want a customer to be able to select a category and the results filtered but then allow the user to change category in the sidebar so it can re filter etc if that makes sense?

Quote from mattopsm on August 23, 2023, 09:46Hi Pablo, I have tried activating Swoof influence and that hasn't made any difference (all caches cleared prior to testing) and If I active the SEO URL then the category filter disappears as does the tag (by month) filter. So have deactivated both. Any other suggestions?

I have tried activating Swoof influence and that hasn't made any difference - I meant set as NO - https://share.pluginus.net/image/i20230823103123.png
It looks like a conflict with a third party plugin. Are you using a custom taxonomy plugin? OR https://wordpress.org/plugins/perfect-woocommerce-brands/

Quote from mattopsm on August 23, 2023, 12:59Hi, tried activating and deactivating Swoof influence, neither made a difference. We're currently using Grid Builder WP but this needs to remain on.

Looks like it's a conflict with ACF. You created a custom taxonomy with this plugin which caused a conflict.

Quote from Pablo Borysenco on August 24, 2023, 12:19The problem is that this third party plugin sees the taxonomy in the request and redirects to the archive template
You can try to make custom taxonomy with this plugin(instead of acf) - https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-ui/
did you use this code? - https://products-filter.com/make-page-builders-and-custom-template-filterable

I have added that code to the site – is that what you were instructing? - No! I was just asking if you have added this code before. If not, then you don't need to add this code.
If I recreate the taxonomy using CPTUI will it definitely work? - We use this plugin and we have no conflicts with it
