Can't turn "Show count" off and keep "Hide empty terms" on

As per the subject, I want to set"Show count" OFF and keep"Hide empty terms" ON - whenever I do this and save the changes the plugin changes my configuration so both options are either off or on.
I don't want product totals showing in the menu, but I also don't want empty categories showing - how do I achieve this when the plugin keeps overruling what I save?
