Bulk edit variable product meta key

we are trying to change the value of a meta key for product variations, more specifically available_on_backorder.
While it works on simple products, sadly it doesn't work for single variables. See exaples.

Hello, the filter works, meaning that i can filter backorder status and i see corresponding items.
All my products are set as"allow but notify customer" or"don't allow" and the filter works in this sense.
Anyway i'm trying to change the value of the string of backorder availability, not the backorder status as shown in example link
(We are thinking about buying the pro version but we need this feature to work!)

Hello, i think the field itself is a standard woocommerce field...
this is my scenario:
a plugin called"custom stock status" allows me to custom that field globally or specifically for simple products, and for all the variables inside a variable product.
Your bulk editor finds that field through meta fields
It works perfectly if i customize that field for a single product.
It just doesn't work with variables...

available_on_backorder - I have not found such a field in the standard woocommerce. maybe a third party plugin uses a different key for variable products
