Added Attribute and edited with WOOBE now attribute shows on product page

We have issue where we created an attribute Product Flavours. We then went into WOOBE and we arranged columns so it only shows product name and this column for product flavours.
We went through all of our products and added manually the flavours for each product. All products are complete now but when we view the product page for these products, the attribute is showing on the product page as an option for customer to choose. We only wanted this attribute for sorting purposes.
We now have to go into each product and unhceck use in variations. took us 3 days to add the flavours for each product and now going to be another 3 days to uncheck use in product variations.
Any way around this?
