Problem with filter redirecting to main shop page or causing 404 error

The product filter was working, but now it's doing strange things…
If I click on the price slider it stays on the correct page and filters correctly, but if I use one of the checkbox filters or colour swatch at the same time I get a 404 error!
On a fresh page load, when I click on a colour swatch or any checkbox in my filter I am redirected to my main shop page, but the address path is:
https://mysite.xx/product-category/nursery-items/cots-and-cot-beds/?swoof=1&pa_colour=grey&really_curr_tax=239-product_cat
I have deleted and re-installed the plugin, but this hasn't fixed the issue.
Do you have any idea what might be causing this please?
It's ok, I've sorted it, the problem occurred after we stopped using default woocommerce layout for shop page. We've now reset back to woocommerce shop page and it's working again.
