Can Filters Automatically Collapsed AFTER Selections are Made in Categories?

To filter our products, several categories are needed.
When a selection is made in ONE of FIVE Categories, can the filter then automatically collapse while still showing the selection made?
This would help keep the Product Filter Much Shorter.
Otherwise, with 5 categories to select, the menu is rather long.
(I have an illustration that shows the desired functionality, but I could not find a way to show the image or add as an attachment.)
